Let’s take a few steps back, what are pores? A pore is a small opening in the skin which allows oil and sweat to reach the surface. We have two different types of pores: oil and sweat pores.
The cause of enlarged pores is when your oil glands make too much oil. This excess oil mixes with dead skin cells in the pore, causing it to clog. The clog stops the oil from flowing freely, which causes the pore itself to enlarge.
The pore enlarges to provide extra room for the oil to flow out, the oil still may become trapped by the dead skin, this is most common around the nose.
